Melbourne - Christmas Trees 2012

Last year, the Christmas tree was placed at the Federation Square. This year for the first time (I think, for I don't go to the CBD every Christmas) the Melbourne's City Square at the corner of Swanston and Collins Streets, was transformed with lots of potted plants placed like a maze towards the centrepiece Christmas tree, all lighted up and decorated.

Main photo on the left shows the Christmas tree with St. Paul's Cathedral in the background. The tree certainly attracted a crowd with many families taking their picture perfect photo opportunity, the tree offers.

There was more of a traditional Christmas feel this year. There was even a Santa's Post Box and a nativity scene, yet not quite traditional in other ways. It was certainly a lot different to previous year's theme. Even the Town Hall was gift wrapped with special effect lightings directed at it. See photos below.

I quite like this year Christmas tree and decorations at the City Square. Hmmmm, I think I aim to do this on a regular basis every Christmas.

More view of the city on our way back to the car park; from the city square, pass St. Pauls Cathedral and Melbourne iconic Flinders Street Station.
